I decided to put down only five songs for every epi. Also, to make it more challenging, I didn't let myself put down any of the songs that were in the actual epi. Just for safety's sake, I don't own Warehouse 13 or the songs on the playlists. While this is a playlist, I don't have the zip files. So, review and tell me what you think!
Warning: Spoilers for the entire Season 1 Pilot The pilot was fairly easy to make a soundtrack for, and I decided to center it around Myka and Pete's discovery of the warehouse and their integration into it.
M This song kind of speaks for itself as far as how it relates to the pilot: Myka and Pete's definition of the world is about to be put into a tailspin, and there's really no going back. Plus, I loved the fast tone of the song, which sounds like the singer is barely keeping up. I think that's what Myka and Pete would have felt like. One of my favorite things about it is the mystical, light tone that seems magical itself. Again, the title speaks for itself - really talks about the warehouse this time and how Myka and Pete feel about it.
Some I love, others I can't stand. It's kind of the odd man out on this little playlist because the lyrics don't fit perfectly, but I loved the odd tone of the song, and added it in. Everything's Magic - Angels and Airwaves This has got to be one of my favorite songs of all the playlists here, it's just a happy song. Very upbeat and makes you want to get up in dance. Seriously, if you don't listen to any other song here, listen to this one.
Resonance Resonance was a pretty easy playlist to put together, it was hard at the beginning, but the songs just started coming. Most of these center around Marsden, because we hadn't gotten that much info on Myka and Pete's pasts yet. I liked how the lyrics kept referring to drowning, which is what I thought Marsden was doing - drowning in his own thoughts and dying because of the lack of reality. Comatose - Skillet I really adore the orchestra and rock blend that this song combines, so I wanted to have a place to put it on one of my playlists.
I listened to it and realized that it perfectly described Marsden's departure from reality because of the loss of this music and daughter, and how she was the only thing that could bring him back to reality. Fortress Around Your Heart - Sting This song was used to describe both Myka and Marsden's situations, and how they had kept themselves from the people they loved: Myka's father and Marsden's daughter.
Well, is it my fault if the lyrics seem to fit perfectly! Memories - Within Temptation I just want to say that Within Temptation is one of my favorite bands, and while this song fits less well lyrics wise, the eerie tone that the song gives off helps the episode.
It could apply to Marsden's memories of his daughter, his daughter's memories of him, Myka's memories of her father, and Artie's past memories that we see in the very end of the episode. Magnetism Probably the playlist that centers itself more around the artifact than anything else.
I thought it was such a hilarious scene that it deserved its own song. We Are - Ana Johnsson I liked how the lyrics referred to "white picket fences" and "seeing the devil on your back" thereby referencing the small town and the temptations that they give into. How to Save a Life - The Fray I chose this song because of how it's about the hidden demons inside everyone, which is the main focus point of this episode.
I loved the lyric "you say sit down it's just a talk" which makes me think of the artifact of the episode - the malfunctioning chair that people talk to the priest in, and which inspires people to act up. Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down This song is actually about the artifact yes, I based an entire song around the chair, lol , and how it exposes the secrets of the townspeople. In my mind, this song perfectly shows Claudia's determination to get Joshua back - or die with him.
This harsh tone and lyrics seems appropriate for Claudia's state of mind at the time. Never Alone - Barlow Girl Such a beautiful and haunting song, this one talking about Claudia's bond with her brother's "ghost" so to speak, and how even though it goes against all logic, she still believes that he's real.
Haunted - Kelly Clarkston This song's odd, off tone beginning really helps bring out the creepiness of the episode, and it highlights Claudia's need for Joshua. Somewhere - Within Temptation Another Within Temptation song because they are purely awesome and because it again shows Claudia's dedication to getting Joshua back.
Elements The. This might have been because I disliked the main plot I thought the villain was waaaay too cheesy with his lines and overacted , so I didn't have much of a plot to go on. I mainly focused on the subplot of Claudia deciding to stay at the warehouse. The Reason - Hoobastank This is purely a Claudia song, and her desire to change for the better for the warehouse and Artie.
In the Shadows - Rasmus An action song for the episode, and it links back to Claudia finally finding the place where she can fully be herself and take full control of her abilities - the warehouse. Unwell - Matchbox 20 Another Claudia song is it my fault I found the main plot kind of boring?! Elements - A Fine Frenzy Really? Does this really need an explanation? Burnout One of my favorite playlists to put together, I used a mix of alternative songs to mirror the action of this episode, and yet the sad message that the episode gave us - that the warehouse, while fun, is more than just a regular job.
Hallelujah - Rufus Wainwright A very depressing song for a pretty depressing but still completely awesome! He would approve. Plus, Three Days Grace needs some love. Implosion This was one of the hardest eps. I was going "Where's Claudia, Show? It could also relate back to Artie, and his search to prove it really is MacPherson. Take a Bow - Muse This song just pretty much defines MacPherson and how evil he is, at least in Artie's eyes by this point in the series.
